Natalia Panteleimonov: Biography

Natalia Bidun was born in Ukraine in 1985 in the small city called Kuznetsovsk. In her early childhood, Natalia was set apart from the rest of the children in her class as one with extraordinary love and passion for art. As she grew, her passion and skills in drawing and painting grew along with her. She never thought about seriously pursuing art as career. Due to being a second oldest child in a family of nine siblings, she tried to get a degree in different professions that she and her family thought would provide best for her. In 1998, Natalia's family emigrated to United States, where Natalia graduated from high school later in 2003. It took her few years of struggle between several different careers to realize that her only passion is in art. After a few of failures, she decided to take some art classes in Local public college, and that's when she finally turned her full attention to art. Even when she wasn't pursuing art, Natalia never stopped drawing. It was her only way of dealing with pressure and stress. She drew and painted as a way to escape and find peace. But all this time she was growing and progressing in skills. In 2007, Natalia unlocked yet another talent in her self. A talent for sculpting. Her college art teacher, professor Marisa Sayago, suggested that Natalia tried taking sculpting class with her. At first Natalia wasn't too keen on it, but then she decided to give it a try. And that's when she fell in love with clay media and 3 dementional designs. Ever since then, Natalia has been creating most unique pieces with incredible detail and color rendering that will keep your eyes locked on it for ever.

Artist’s statement:

"To me art isn't just a mystery, a puzzle or an expression of one’s feelings. To me art is a way of life. Simplest drawing or a craft project holds endless possibilities. Art can be interpreted into many different things and can be expressed in many different ways. It’s a song, its poetry. It’s a fantasy and reality. Art is a language of its own. Art reflects on who you are, your way of life and how you view the world. It even has therapeutic powers.

My passion for art however, finds its roots in most unusual form. It all started with collecting colored fall leafs for our craft class in grade school. It was in that class that I found my deep interest in art. Every year in fall, one of our assignments was to collect colored leafs and to dry them for different crafts in class. It is then, while collecting those leafs as a little girl, I noticed how beautiful and vibrant their colors were, ranging from bright yellow to deep crimson on some, and lime green to every shade of maroon and purple on others. It fascinated me how those colors flowed and faded on one tiny leaf. I wanted to paint it. After that I began to notice that not only fall leafs had a combination of beautiful form and colors, but many other things as well; flowers, trees, animals, even buildings and people. Gradually I began to take notice of my surroundings as work of art. Granted, I didn't just wake up the next day with incredible skill and style; it took many years to evolve and shape in to what it is today. With a spark of passion, I slowly began to climb the rocky mountain of knowledge in art. By the time I reached High School, I was known for my drawing and painting skills. However, it wasn't until years later, in college, that I thought of seriously pursuing a career in art field.

Starting from my early childhood, up until today, many things I went through in life had a certain impact on me from which my personal and unique style was born. My world is filled with rich colors of life that holds love, joy, hope and compassion as well as sometimes sadness, loneliness and sorrow. Through art I want to communicate that beauty to the world. Looking at my work, I want to make people smile, and remember what life is all about. What it could be, and what countless treasures it holds. To me art is more than just mysteries and puzzles. To me art is way of life".
